To be or not to be a bridezilla?

Who the hell invented this horrific term i do not know, but i really really wanna forget about it. I know that brides all over the world have a say in this, but really…?!? You girls like to be called that? Do you really wanna be a bridezilla? I’ll tell you this much: by behaving like a crazy” biatch” you will not only annoy everybody around you, but you’ll miss the whole thing. You will miss the magic that is planning a wedding. Why not enjoy looking for a dress? It’s fun, it’s girly, it’s magic, it’s what you’ve always been dreaming about since you found out that someday you’ll be a bride. Do you really want to ruin that experience?!? For most of us it will happen only once. A once in a lifetime opportunity! So my dear bridezillas: stop it! The wedding will be planned exactly like YOU wish, the dress will be the one YOU want, and the whole day will be entirely for you so start smiling, it will not only help you but also it will make the planning alot more fun!

So, what do you say we look at some trends for 2011?  There are gorgeous styles waiting for you in bridal boutiques.

The princess- The ball gown is making a comeback this year. So if you either love the clasics or would like to add a little edge to your dress, the princess is the look to go for this year.

Classic ball gown

The mermaid/trumpet dress. This is one of my favourite styles and we can find so many beautiful dresses in this cut. The mermaid dress best fits a tall slender figure, as oppossed to the trumpet cut that will make you look taller. So if you are a petit girl the trumpet is the style for you.

The Empire cut- this is by far my favourite wedding gown style and it fits any kind of figure. They are usually made out of chiffon or silk and it floats beautifully around your body when you move. They are not heavy dresses and are comfortable and easy to wear. The empire is perfect for the greek godess look.

And now i would very much like to present to you the best dress i’ve seen so far this season… and the winner is…

This goes out to all brides to be : there is a style for every single one of you out there! So hit the stores, start trying on dresses and  you will find the one that fits you perfectly and that’s the moment you’ll say “this is my dres”. Enjoy, you are a bride now!

The perfect wedding gown

It is said that when you will put on the dress you want you will know. It is entirely true! I had my wedding last year , and the moment i tried on my greek godess dress i knew that was it.

Today as i was browsing around some sites i nearly fell of my chair when i came across this picture:

I find this dress to be  close to perfection ( i would take away the lace sleeves).  I would do the wedding all over again just for this dress.

I think it would make a great evening gown too , if it were in a dark purple or dark red.

I have no ideea who made it ,or how much it costs, but i bet it is expensive ( i will however try to find out).

Another thing.. no veil for this dress! I would wear just a simple  tiara , small earings , gloves and  a bracelet. That’s it! Anything more and you would fall down on a sleepery slide towords ridiculous ( there’s too much going on already on your neck and shoulders).

Hmm i am starting to think i got married a year too soon. 🙂

I will post pictures of my wedding dress too , later this evening.

Trends Gone Bad !!!

One of the things i love the most in the world is to read while in the bathtub: anything from fashion magazines to novels to scientific publications. Yesterday , as i was enjoying  such a bath that would make even Cleopatra jealous, my happiness was rudely interrupted by an article in a fashion magazine ( i won’t give the name) that was two pages long and stated that the latest trend for spring / summer 2010 is “Twilight Grunge”. I think i almost drowned in my own  bathtub!!

Twilight Grunge…..  So..let me see if i got this straight: the clothes we use when we stay in the house because you don’t wanna see or be seen , the clothes we use when we are so depressed we don’t care what we put on and just open the closet and whatever falls in our hands is good, these clothes that i personaly hate , but i use from time to time,  now have a name … even more.. they are a trend..

OH..MY… GOD!!!!  Sure i really do wanna look like this every day for the next 6 or 7 months!

The fact is that secretly every woman i know wants to look like a crazy emo cracked-up whore ( me included)!

The sad part is that i actualy know a girl who dresses like this everyday , it is kind of close to me and it is disturbing for my fashion senses. Hurts my eyes when i see her!

Seriously  ladies, is this how be want to be seen in public?!?!?  What happened to our values when it comes to style? What do the great designers of this world work for ?!?!  What happened to the fashion magazines that used to give good advice?!?!?

It is no secret that i hate Twilight ! But now… they really crossed the line as far as i am concerned ! Ok, i was ok with the whole ” Oh Edward ” mania, i was ok ( not really) with the vampire pussyfication , i think i finaly got over the fact that some fucking teenagers can have so much drama in their life (instead of having fun by playing world of warcraft and guitar hero till they drop), but the fact that Twilight is now a fashion trend  i just can’t get over !!!

PS: Message for the fashion magazines!! If by any chance some editor reads this , i have something to tell them! Stop selling us crap in your publications! And please, stop ruinning my relaxing , luxurious baths  because of some incompetent fashion editor that has no ideea what the hell he’s talking about  !

Man! I picked the wrong day to quit smoking!!!!  By the way , ladies if you want to see art at its best when it comes to fashion , look for the Armani collection presented during Paris Fashion Week!

To be or not to be …. a vampire

I decided to let you guys know what burts my bubble lately : the whole Twilight  teenage mania. I am so sick and tired of it!  I mean what happened  to Anne Rice and Lestat?!?!?  These are the real vampire stories! Further more, in my country  vampires have an important place in history legends and folklore. And trust me when i say they have nothing to do with the emo, girly , pussyfied Edward! And come on let’s be serious , are they really expect me to believe that women out there prefere Rob Pattinson ( Edward) over Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in “Interview with a vampire”  or over Stuart Townsend in “Queen of the damned”?!?!?  Bloody hell!!!!  I mean if i will eventualy get bitten at least let it be from a sexy, seductive, extremly charming  ( Brad Pitt) vampire. If Edward would try and bite me, i would kick him and his entire family’s ass before that happens!  As for Lestat….. let’s just put it this way, i would volunteer!

Enough bitching around! They recently had the Twilight New Moon  Premiere in Los Angeles. On the red carpet , the guys were  far more interesting to watch than the female stars.

Taylor Launter – altough he admitted he had professional help in choosing his outfit , i gotta give him an A+. The blue Calvin Klein suit fits him perfectly. And i think Calvin Klein already started a new trend with the dark blue mens suit collection. I also love the fact that he’s wearing a tie rather than a bow. I hate bows !

Our very own star Rob Pattinson. I like the fact that he went for a grey suit. As much as i love the traditional black , the Twilight actors are very young  and the blue/ grey suits were a very good choice for them.

Ah.. Bella…  Bella , Bella, Bella… I know you said on several ocasions that you love  jeans and t- shirts, but what the hell is this?!?! Haven’t you learned anything  from your Haprer’s Bazaar photo shoot?!?!?!  Sure the Oscar de la Renta gown is very nice , but in this case was a very unfortunate choice. Apart from this the hair is a disaster, no accesories…. emo make-up.. this is just bad!

Ashley Greene- Although i think this gown is more appropriate for the Oscars or the Grammys , i would still give her an A+. The ” famme fatale” look fits her perfectly.

Dakota Fanning in Valentino. No comment!

The general ideea is that it wasn’t a fashion disaster. I’ve seen better , but i’ve also seen worse. In other news, i recently heard rummors about the fact that People Magazine should have chosen Rob Pattinson as the sexiest man alive in stead of Jonny Depp. If they want to start a war about who’s sexier Edward Cullen or Jack Sparrow , believe me i will be the one to lead Jonny’s army into battle!

All this being said i have a small present for dear vampire Edward Cullen ( my dog has a bigger chance of  biting me). This little song i found on you tube is just for you darling… enjoy!

Amazing Rome!

I am back from my vacation! Back to the  cruel reality, to the damn economic crisis….. ah it was a dream! We visited so many beautiful places and gathered so many nice memories! But from all the wonderful places i’ve seen, the one that struck me the most was Rome. I started missing it the second i left! And i think i will miss it everyday untill i will go back. It’s fabulous , absolutely amazing!  The thing i loved the most? Hmmm…….  I don’t think i can really say… Fontana di Trevi i think. ( ah..La dolce vita) 🙂

And ofcourse one of the things i wanted to see the most was The Colosseum…and i did! Rome is a very crowded city, but just not crowded enough to bother you. It’s full of turists! They are everywhere…  You breathe history at every corner there. If only i had the time to visit it all….  Ofcourse i could stay here and talk about Rome for hours and hours and hours, but this is not a travel blog.(Hmm , maybe i’ll start one)

Fashion is everywhere in Rome! And i mean everywhere! Every little street , no matter how short or narrow it’s packed with small boutiques. And they look extremly glam! No big malls, no department stores, and that makes shopping in Rome even more fabulous than it already is! Remember the famous Italian shoes that all the world craves for? Oh i’ve seen them and believe me they are worth craving for! And the labels….oh ladies, the labels are there! You name it, i’ve seen it! Valentino, Roberto Cavali, D&G, Prada, Versace, Gucci , Dior , Chanel , Trusardi, Hermes , Balenciaga , Vuitton , Fendi … shall i go on?!?!  But shopping in Rome is not all about labels and designers! And ladies, women in Rome hold the secret for looking great at any age. They really give a damn about what they wear. I think they are born with that amazing sense of fashion! And let me tell you , those ladies don’t necessarly follow trends or dress by the book, but they simply look fabulos like the city itself. It is a bit hard not to!  In Rome even if you buy from a shop that sells 20 euros clothing articles or 2000 euros clothes , you will look equaly stylish! Thet’s the beauty of Rome and its ladies. Oh, and don’t get me started on the jewellery! The most beautiful jewels in the world live in Italy! At some point ,i’ve actualy started looking for something i wouldn’t like rather then looking for something i would wear. That made scouting for jewellery stores alot faster! I didn’t find anything, i would have bought them all!

Like i said i could stay here and talk forever, instead i will show you some of the pictures we took in Rome, wich is simply, truly….eternal!FinePix6500 310

Common make up mistakes

Since we were little girls we dreamed about the day we would start using make up. I personaly was fascinated with my mom’s little magic boxes ( and her high heels, and her clothes , and i totaly destroyed her wedding dress to make clothes for my barbie). And then….i think i was about 14 years old, the magic moment arrived…. i had my own magic boxes. And from that point on the mistakes started  pouring. But , practice makes perfect , and i am happy i am past the time in my life when i took me one hour to apply my make up. What worries me is the fact that i saw women still making those mistakes after years and years of practice. So here is what i think a woman should not do in terms of make up :

Mistake no.1 The Foundation

– the worst thing  you can do when  applying foundation ( and i saw alot of  this hapenning) is using too much. Using too much foundation will not cover your imperfections better, but it  will make your face look like a mask.

-another common mistake when it comes to foundation is using the wrong shade. A lighter shade will make look pale like you’ve been sick and a darker shade is just simply out of place ( trust me , you can achieve the summer glow in other ways).

– don’t forget to apply foundation on the neck and cleavage too. Even if you don’t see the difference trust me it’s there, and the natural light will only make it worst.

Mistake no.2 The Eyeliner

– never use too much of it , especialy black eyeliner. If  you use black eyeliner for both your upper and lower lid , after a certain age it will only make you look older. Also let’s keep the black just for evening ,shall we?

Mistake no.3 The Eyeshadow

-the eyeshadow will always gather in the crease of your eyelids if it is not applied corectly or if its quality is poor. If you suspect that upgrade it a bit. I know make up can be expensive but consider it as an investment.

-never use dark shades for your day make up! EVER!

Mistake no.4 The Blush

– of course we all want rosy cheeck, but do we also want to look like porcelain dolls?!? Because that is exactly the look we will achieve if we use too much blush. ( i’ve seen alot of this hapenning , and i personaly think it will make you look like a very old woman , the kind that has alot of cats and uses very red lipstick)

Mistake no.5 The Mascara

– using too much mascara will only make your lashes stick toghether and make them look like a spider web. Always , and i mean ALWAYS, use only one layer of mascara for your day make and just 2 layers for the evening.bad make up 1

Here there are all of them rolled into one great specimen:

– too much black eyeliner

-bad choice of colors for the eyeshadow

-spider web lashes

– red lipstick ( if the look you want to create will focus on your eyes , don’t pump up your lips  to match like in this here example)

– bleah i hate that blush

I am pretty sure there are alot of other mistakes women do ( come to think of it there are tons of other examples), but try as mush as you can to keep it nice and tasteful. You don’t want to look these days like a parisian whore  prostitute 🙂 .

Smokey eyes for dummies…

I  used to linger, and linger and linger over this type of make up that i loved , but i never seemed to get it right.  But after years of practice i managed to achieve the incredible smokey eyes i was so desperate to obtain. So here are the basic steps to the incredible smokey eyes make-up.

1. Preparing your skin. We all know the first rule for a perfect make -up clean and hydrated skin. So start by cleaning your skin and use your favourite moisturizer especialy around your eyes ( use circular moves to apply it). Then apply some foundation on your upper lid  and use an neutral eye shadow to cover it ( “peach” is a good choice). This will make a very good base for your make up (any make up smokey or not).

2. Applying the eye liner. Use the eye liner the same color as the eye shadow you are planning to use ( for ex. if u want black eye shadow use a black liner). Experts recomand just a few colors for the eye shadow : black , grey, brown, purple or green ( make sure they are all dark). Start using your eye liner from the inner corner and work your way to the outer corner . Use a little liner on your lower lid too. Then, use a clean brush to smudge it.

3. The eye shadow. You will need 2 eye shadows , a dark color and a lighter one. Start by using the dark color and draw a line to cover the liner,on the inner and outer cornners and on the crease. Apply then the lighter color on the lid on the area where you didn’t use the dark color, and also above the crease. Make sure the colors blend in nicely ( that is the golden secret for smokey eyes). Apply the neutral eye shadow ( the one you used for the base) just under the eyebrow line  to soften the dark colors.

4.Last but not least ..mascara. Curve your lashes and apply mascara, but make sure you don’t use it to much(2 layers is more than enough). You can also use some fake lashes in the outer corner of your eyes.

That’s it! Trust me it is quite easy once you get the hang of it.  And remember smokey eyes is a make up that focuses on your eyes , do not ruin it by using a red lipstick. A clear gloss it is more than enough, let your eyes do all the talking!smokey 1smokey 2smokey 4
